Rwanda starts a program to prepare young digital talents.

Rwanda has unveiled an ambitious drive to equip young digital talents with the right opportunities and jobs in the growing digital economy.

Launched in the capital, Kigali, the initiative, titled the Innovate4DigiJobs, is a challenge driven by the Rwanda Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Chamber, in partnership with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) of the United Nations and Luxembourg Aid and Development agency.

Alex Ntare, chief executive officer of Rwanda ICT Chamber, presided over the unveiling.

“Innovate4DigiJobs is not just about winning a competition. It’s about the impact we’re targeting," he said.

"If your passion is about changing lives, not just chasing profits, we want to make sure you’re not left behind,” his message to intended beneficiaries.

ILO has encouraged Rwanda to promote inclusive growth, noting that as the digital sector continued to expand, it was vital to ensure citizens were not left behind.

Ngabo Olivier permanent secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Arts, commented: "Innovate4DigiJobs paves a meaningful path for young people to leverage their digital talents the right way."

The application deadline is June 27.

The new challenge aligns with the Rwanda Economy Digitalisation Programme, an initiative to support a sustained shift to an inclusive, digitalised economy.
