In pursuit of its ongoing strategy to strengthen regional autonomy and deliver locally relevant innovation in key global growth markets, RIB Software, a digital solutions provider for the construction and infrastructure sectors, has appointed Chris Smith as senior vice president for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific regions.
Smith has over 30 years of international expertise in SaaS and corporate technology, according to the business.
He has led commercial and strategic growth in markets including Australia, New Zealand, North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
Smith has now turned his attention to RIB Software's key growth markets, including Africa.
According to RIB Software, Smith's immediate focus will be on the regional rollout of the company's integrated technology suite, which includes Candy, CostX, and BuildSmart, tailored to market conditions and infrastructure goals.
In Africa, where 58% of enterprises have recently highlighted digital transformation as a major priority, Smith will focus on accelerating the adoption of RIB's cloud-based, BIM-enabled, and cost-control technologies.
“My appointment aligns with RIB’s vision to transform into a global powerhouse providing innovative software solutions in our markets,” Smith said. “Through this role, we will ensure cohesive, locally relevant products built around customer needs.”
He continued: “Clients in the region face unique challenges, from rising material costs and labour shortages to complex regulatory frameworks and fragmented markets. Our solutions must reflect these realities. We’re not bringing a one-size-fits-all model, but translating global capability into practical, local value.”
Smith has an MBA and substantial experience in private equity-backed environments and mergers and acquisitions; he was previously the chief revenue officer, board member, and shareholder of Medius.
According to RIB Software, he played a key part in the company's international expansion over 12 years.
