Red Dot becomes Seagate's distributor for East Africa

American data storage company Seagate Technology has appointed East African IT Distributor Red Dot Distribution as its distributor of hard drives for the East African market.

This is according to a report by CIO East Africa, which notes that Seagate is the latest addition to Red Dot Distribution's portfolio. Red Dot, which claims to be the number one IT distributor in Eastern and Southern Africa, will become the company's only authorised distributor in East Africa.

According to the report, the partnership was announced in Kenya during the SecureExpo East Africa which took place from 31 January to 2 February this year.

Asif Jeraj, COO of Red Dot Distribution is quoted as saying, "We are excited Seagate is on-board with us. Genuine certified products... are our promise; and with East Africa being the hub of technology in Africa, Red Dot is playing its part in delivering this."

Seagate claims to have made its mark as the preferred hard drive supplier, especially in the surveillance industry partnering with big surveillance companies as Hikvision using Seagate surveillance hard drives.

Last month, the company reported its financial results for the quarter ended December 29, 2017. For the second quarter, the Company reported revenue of US$2.9 billion, gross margin of 30.1%, net income of US$159 million and diluted earnings per share of US$0.55.
