Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi, has introduced 12 new electric vehicles (EVs) as part of its eco-friendly initiatives drive within the hospitality industry in Kenya.
Situated in Upper Hill, a commercial hub in the capital Nairobi where skyscrapers such as Britam Tower dominate the skyline, the hotel has partnered with Humming Bird Transport (HBT), a transport service company specialising in guest transportation services for the provision of the vehicles.
In a statement, Radisson Blu Hotel said the partnership with HBT aims to reduce carbon emissions and promote a greener tourism experience.
It has installed a dedicated charging station for the EVs, which will also be available to guests, supporting the long-term viability of electric transport in the hospitality sector.
Russel Storey, Radisson Blu Nairobi general manager highlighted the partnership's importance in redefining the industry's environmental impact and promoting Kenya's leadership in green transport.
‘’By introducing electric vehicles, we are not just reducing carbon emissions; we are re-writing the script on the hospitality industry’s environmental impact. We are also aiming to redefine the tourism experience while championing Kenya’s leadership in green transport in Africa,” he said.
HBT managing Director, Martin Muringi, commended the hotel for its role in accelerating sustainable transportation solutions and setting a new standard for environmental responsibility in tourism in the East African country.
“Together, we are pioneering sustainable transportation solutions that will redefine the tourism experience and set a new precedent for environmental responsibility,” said Muringi.
HBT has been in the driving seat of pushing the future of sustainable transportation in East Africa.
The company designs and provided technologies that enable the mass adoption of zero-emissions commercial vehicles.
