The Central Bank of Egypt has approved a license for the Qatar National Bank (QNB Group) to establish a digital bank.

According to QNB, the digital bank, ezbank, serves the central bank's ambition for financial inclusion and digital transformation, as well as the government's overall economic development strategy.

Ezbank will combine digital technology with best practices to provide financial services to a wide range of customers, leveraging mobile-first platforms, artificial intelligence-driven tools, and smart risk management to simplify transactions, increase access, and support the North African country's digital economy.

“The license approval for ezbank is an important step in Egypt’s ongoing efforts to transform the banking sector,” note QNB Group in a statement.
