Q-KON has been appointed as a member of the global Newtec Business Partner Program (bePART) and is therefore an official distributor of Newtec satcom products.
Newtec is a global provider of equipment used in critical satellite based TV distribution chains. The company was created in 1985 and currently has five R&D centres and a production facility with offices in nine countries in over five continents.
In 2011 Newtec unveiled the new business partner strategy to ensure partners could access its products quickly and easily across the globe. The programme is designed to make the most of industry partnerships by selecting and authorising resellers within each region to benefit from specifically designed training and support. The goal is to fulfil more business through key partnerships that will bring added value to end-users.
Africa is considered a burgeoning marketplace and a target for further expansion. Newtec’s partner network now comprises Q-KON, an experienced service provider of satellite services and solutions, with knowledge of high-growth sectors such as digital broadcasting and connectivity.
As a Newtec certified partner Q-KON will distribute product and technologies to the Africa market and enjoy access to the latest developments, globally, in terms of broadband and application in broadcasting services.
The agreement ensures Q-KON has a solid platform from which to engage local broadcast distribution channels and operators, and offer a wider choice of solutions to cater for the domestic market.
“We are constantly evolving and growing our product portfolio both with our existing supplier partners and with new partners. Currently our focus is to broaden our mutual horizons with our partners,” explains Hendrik Bezuidenhout, managing executive at Q-KON. “The broadcasting services space in Africa is growing and there is continued interest in cost-effective services that can meet local requirements.”
“Q-KON is also proud to be selected for the Newtec partner programme. Extending our relationship with Newtec strengthens our capabilities to provide solutions and to become a player in the Africa’s broadcast industry,” Bezuidenhout adds.
Abdurrahman Razak, regional sales director Africa for Newtec, expressed the company’s delight at having Q-KON join its bePART Programme and also stated their belief that this will materialise in significant value-add to the services channel and the continent’s broadcast industry as a whole.
Newtec and Q-KON have previously partnered together on the delivery of a satellite-based broadband solution via a joint-venture between Ellies Holdings Ltd and Q-KON. The venture called SkyeVine provides two-way internet services to the sub-Saharan African market.
