Paratus says the move is about bridging the digital divide for thousands of learners.
Paratus says the move is about bridging the digital divide for thousands of learners.

Paratus, a telecom services provider, has launched EduLink, a connectivity solution meant to provide internet access to schools in underserved and remote places across the continent.

Paratus stated that EduLINK uses Starlink's Low Earth Orbit satellite technology to connect schools through a campaign called Empowering Education, Anywhere.

According to the company, the EduLINK package provides high-speed internet to qualifying schools in Botswana, Eswatini, Kenya, Mozambique, Malawi, Rwanda, and Zambia, with two terabytes of priority data each month, followed by a data buffer to enhance online learning and digital resource access.

Paratus said the solution is only offered to schools that have a recognised education certificate.

“ParatusEduLINK is not just about connectivity, it’s about creating equal access to education,” said Barney Harmse, executive chairman of Paratus Group.

He went on to say that the move is intended to bridge the digital hurdle for thousands of students who deserve the same possibilities as everyone else, no matter how remote their location.
