Zambia has deployed more than 500 Starlink units and 14 communication towers in rural areas this year.
A cabinet official cited this as one of the highlights of some of the accomplishments made during the period covered by the country's eighth National Development Plan.
Situmbeko Musokotwane, minister of finance and national planning, stated that the government achieved headway in digital governance this year, in addition to deploying 525 Starlink units and towers.
As a result, about 368 government services are now offered online via the ZamPortal, generating K1.1 billion (US$47.5 million) revenue since the beginning of the year.
Musokotwane spoke at the National Development Coordinating Committee's meeting this weekend.
He underlined the government's determination to improve rural connectivity.
“The New Dawn administration will continue driving the country towards a prosperous, resilient and inclusive future."
