Orange Tunisia is working with Eutelsat to launch a satellite internet service for remote areas, providing dependable connectivity where terrestrial infrastructure is limited or nonexistent.

According to the telco, the initiative positions Orange Satellite as the country's first operator to offer satellite speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

The launch follows Orange and Eutelsat's strategic alliance, formed a year ago to accelerate satellite rollout across Africa and the Middle East.

While the initial rollout focused on Jordan, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the eventual goal is to expand across the region.

Eutelsat's KONNECT satellite recently enabled a similar broadband service in Côte d'Ivoire, closing the connectivity gap in remote areas without access to 4G or fibre network.

Orange Satellite now offers complete coverage across Tunisia thanks to Eutelsat's advanced technology.

This high-capacity system delivers significantly enhanced performance compared to previous generations, offering increased bandwidth, steadier signals, and faster data speeds even in the most remote locations.

Orange previously emphasised that this forms part of a broader strategy. The company aims to provide reliable low- and high-orbit satellite solutions that complement its existing terrestrial networks.

Two distinct offers are now available to meet the needs of users, particularly professionals in remote areas who view dependable internet as an essential driver of development.

“With Orange Satellite, Orange Tunisia confirms its leadership in innovation and reaffirms its commitment to digital inclusion. We are continuing our efforts to reduce the digital divide by making broadband accessible to as many people as possible across the country,” the operator stated.
