Christel Heydemann, CEO of Orange Group, has celebrated the company surpassing 300 million customers worldwide, citing Africa and the Middle East as key drivers of the group’s profitability.

Africa and the Middle East continue to be the driving force of Orange Group’s global growth story after the high performing region propelled the French telecom giant to profitability for the 10th consecutive quarter.

Powered by double-digit revenue growth for Africa and the Middle East, the group has reported an impressive 8.2 million new customers in Q3 2025 which push its total base past the 300 million mark, a milestone reflecting the continent’s strategic role in Orange’s expansion.

Orange's achievement comes a week after MTN Group, Africa's largest telecoms operator, reached an important mark by reaching 300 million consumers in its markets.

Regarding Orange's current reporting period, CEO Christel Heydemann hailed the solid third-quarter results performance that led to an increase in annual EBITDAaL growth guidance as a testament to the group’s strong fundamentals and disciplined strategy.

“With revenues and EBITDAaL both growing in the third quarter, Orange posted solid results and I would like to sincerely thank all employees for their continued commitment. We have just passed the symbolic threshold of 300 million customers worldwide, underlining the Group’s leadership status,” she said.

Heydemann lauded the Africa and Middle East division as having stood out once again as the group’s fastest-growing region, achieving double-digit revenue growth for the 10th quarter on the trot.

Revenues rose 12.2% year-on-year to $2.29 billion. (€2.1 billion), driven by strong momentum in mobile data (up 18.1%), Orange Money (up 17.4%), and fixed broadband (up 18.2%).

The Group’s CEO pointed out that Orange Money now boasts 44.2 million active users, representing a 19.2% year-on-year increase, while the total mobile base in Africa and the Middle East surged 8% to 172.9 million customers.

“Results remain excellent in Africa & Middle East. Mobile Financial Services remain a strong lever for value creation,” added Heydemann.

The performance of the continent's second largest mobile operator indicates that Africa’s booming digital economy and growing demand for data-driven services have turned the region into Orange’s most dynamic market.

Eleven out of sixteen African operations recorded double-digit growth, which affirms the continent’s resilience and appetite for innovation.

The group’s overall EBITDAaL grew 3.7% in the quarter, with margins improving by 0.7 percentage points, prompting Orange to raise its full-year growth guidance to at least 3.5%.

“These results illustrate the excellent execution of our Lead the Future plan. With mobile connectivity and digital payments driving growth from Dakar to Dar es Salaam, Africa’s contribution continues to power Orange’s global profitability, proving that the continent remains at the core of the telecom giant’s future,” said Heydemann.
