Orange appoints 6 new CEOs for African ops

Orange, the subsidiary of French telecommunications company, France Telecom - has appointed seven new chief executives for its Africa and Middle East operations.

Countries expected to be led through new executives include Niger, Madagascar, Mali, Tunisia, Mauritius, Senegal, and the Middle East’s Jordan.

The company says the appointments fall within the group’s international mobility policy and, would be effective by October 1, 2012.

Marc Rennard, senior executive vice president of France Telecom-Orange for Africa, the Middle East and Asia, said “All of the new chief executive officers have substantial international experience in the telecommunications sector.

“I am confident in their ability to continue to develop the activities of these seven subsidiaries, where we operate under the Orange brand,” he added.

The France-Telecom Orange group is currently present in 20 countries.

Below is the list of the newly appointed chief executives:

  • Brelotte Ba, chief executive officer of Orange Niger,
  • Michel Barré, chief executive officer of Orange Madagascar,
  • Jean-Luc Bohé, chief executive officer of Orange Mali,
  • Didier Charvet, chief executive officer of Orange Tunisia,
  • Nathalie Clere, deputy chief executive officer of Mauritius Telecom,
  • Alioune Ndiaye, chief executive officer of Sonatel in Senegal, and
  • Jean-François Thomas, chief executive officer of Jordan Telecom.
