West African online shopping giant JUMIA has launched operations in Uganda.

Products that JUMIA plans to sell online in the East African country include fashion, electronics, home appliances, mobile devices and beauty products.

JUMIA plans to use a cash-on-delivery (COD) payment method in the country along with a returns policy.

In addition to Uganda, JUMIA has operations in Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Kenya and Egypt.

Founded in 2012, JUMIA claims to be the largest e-commerce mall in Africa with what it says are over 100,000 unique visitors per day.

“After our launch in Nigeria, Morocco, Kenya, Egypt and Ivory Coast in less than one and a half years we are eager to expand our success story to Uganda,” says co-founder of JUMIA, Jeremy Hodara, in a statement.

“We see the same potential here and are more than happy to provide every citizen in Uganda with a secure, convenient and stress-free online shopping experience,” says Hodara.

JUMIA is part of the Africa Internet Holding (AIH).
