EPF stated that the 2025 event is more than just a celebration of technological power; it also honours outstanding individuals in the technology space.

The Empire Partner Foundation (EPF) has opened nominations for the third annual Tech Awards.

The tech non-profit Foundation announced that it will honour initiatives in developing technological solutions that address socioeconomic concerns in local communities.

According to EPF, the goal of this October event is to highlight technology's disruptive impact and vital role in shaping a "brighter future" for South Africa.

Last year, the youth-led charity held the second installation of the awards, saying that its goal was to empower young people and individuals who are utilising technology to better South Africa and Africa.

EPF remarked that the 2025 event is more than just a celebration of technological power; it also celebrates great individuals in the technology field, said the organisation.

Furthermore, the Foundation noted that the purpose of this year's event is to demonstrate its support for technologically driven social development initiatives.

In a statement, Joanna Jacqueline Govender, EPF CEO, said: “We created the EPF Tech Awards because we’ve seen first-hand the incredible talent and ideas coming from young innovators across South Africa — and how easily they can be overlooked. These awards are our way of saying: we see you, we believe in you, and we’re walking this journey with you.

“For many young founders, just one opportunity — the right support, funding, or being heard — can completely change their path. We want to make that access possible. The Tech Awards are not just about recognition — they’re about building a community that lifts each other up and invests in real, homegrown solutions.

“Because when we identify and support local technology that solves real challenges — in healthcare, education, water, energy — we’re not just supporting startups. We’re building our nation. We’re growing our economy. And we’re shaping a future where innovation serves everyone, not just a few.”
