Internet streaming ‘Nollywood’ movie service iROKOtv has partnered with Nokia to launch the Nigerian company’s first mobile app for the Windows Phone platform, according to an annoucement.

Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 users in Nigeria who download the application are planned to get the first three months access to iROKOtv’s premium service for free.

The mobile app is also available to Nokia customers who already have a subscription on iROKOtv PLUS. The streaming service reportedly has over 5,000 movies.

iROKO burst onto the global scene last year with its internet Nollywood TV streaming service, which hit 500,000 subscribers in just six months.

Jason Njoku, chief executive and founder of iROKO Partners, has said Nokia engineers have worked with iROKOtv to help them build the app.

“Most importantly, they have helped to optimise it for Nigeria’s networks,” he's been quoted as saying in a Wall Street Journal blog.

Moreover, the app is intended to give customers extras including interviews with Nollywood stars and additional news.
