One of Handset maker Nokia’s most advanced camera-equipped smartphone to data, the Lumia 1020, has officially gone on sale in Nigeria.

After weeks of pre-order promotions, the mobile phone manufacturer has launched the gadget in Lagos partnership with leading telecommunications service provider Etisalat Nigeria and the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways.

Chris Brown, general manager Nokia West Africa, said the Lumia 1020 is a product of Nokia’s long years of research in imaging technology.

The Lumia 1020 runs on Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system and has a 41-megapixel camera.

Speaking at the Lagos launch event, Charles Ogunwuyi, director for retail sales at Etisalat Nigeria, said, “Etisalat’s partnership with Nokia for the launch of the Lumia 1020 is a result of shared values by both organisations. Our mission to provide Nigeria with super fast internet service compliments Nokia’s goal of building great mobile products that enable people worldwide to enjoy more of what life has to offer.”
