Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has entered into a strategic partnership with global cybersecurity firm Kaspersky to boost country’s cyber resilience.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was concluded yesterday, during GITEX Nigeria 2025, in Lagos. The agreement was signed by NITDA director general, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, and Kaspersky’s GM: Africa, Chris Norton.
Under the agreement, Kaspersky will support Nigeria’s efforts to build stronger defences against rising cyber threats by investing in capacity development and research.
According to NITDA, this includes specialised training programmes to equip local professionals with relevant skills, nationwide awareness campaigns such as NITDA’s Cybersecurity Alphabet initiative, and collaborative analysis of emerging threats to safeguard citizens, government institutions, and businesses.
The partnership also establishes a framework for intelligence sharing on cyberattacks and vulnerabilities targeting Nigeria’s digital infrastructure.
Additionally, Kaspersky will provide advisory support to NITDA in setting robust standards and frameworks for protecting critical information systems, aligning with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda of strengthening national security through digital transformation.
NITDA described the deal as a step toward combining global expertise with a national drive to secure the country’s digital future. By working with Kaspersky, the agency aims not only to secure existing systems but also to prepare the country for future risks as more sectors embrace digitalisation.
