Nigeria, Huawei partner to bridge digital divide

Nigeria's First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has urged the 300 participants of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and Huawei "Women in Tech" training programme to harness their new skills to generate positive change in their communities.

The First Lady made the plea on Thursday in Abuja, during the concluding ceremony of the Women in Tech training program for female entrepreneurs. from across the country.

Tinubu, while addressing the participants said, “although the training has ended, technology keeps changing. Your biggest strength is your ability to keep learning, evolving and adapting to new trends available for your growth in technology.

“Use your new skills to solve real problems in your various communities, because true innovation is only valuable when it improves lives. Remember, you are part of a larger network, support one another and grow together.”

Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, director general of the National Information Technology Development Agency, presided over the program's ceremony, applauding the cooperation as a driver for national progress while also fostering inclusion and digital participation in Nigeria.

He stated that the RHI and Huawei programmes were in line with the Nigerian government's Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to provide Nigerians with digital skills and promote human capital development.

“The collaboration between RHI and Huawei reflects a triangle of hope, a fusion of vision, technology and national strategy, all aligned towards advancing Nigeria’s digital economy,” Abdullahi said.
