Consumer electronics and technology focused multinational Hisense this week unveiled a new smartphone and tablet scheduled for launch in South Africa in March this year.

The Hisense Infinity H6 and Android Sero 8 Pro tablet were presented at a media launch in Johannesburg yesterday.

The Infinity H6 features a 5.0 inch screen treated with one glass solution and glass-film-film technologies for enhanced image resolution.

Specs include gesture recognition ability, dual SIM capability (which allows the user to connect to different mobile accounts simultaneously) Android 4.4, Dolby digital Sound, Snapdragon quad-core 1.2 GHz CPU, 1G RAM and 16G ROM.

The Sero 8 Pro measures in at just 6.35mm, an HEVC decode system to support 4K video decoding and display. The device is said to be capable of running 16 background programmes simultaneously.

Both the Infinity H6 and Sero 8 Pro devices will be available to South African consumers via selected retailers at a recommended retail price of R3,499 and R2999 respectively.

Hisense SA entered the South African market in 1996. Its products are distributed to ten countries in Africa including Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and Lesotho.

Hisense executives believe the Company's mobile brand is more than holding its own against competitors in the South African mobile space.

General Manager Youbo Li said that the Company plans to 'restructure the mobile industry in South Africa'. "We're pleased to offer products boasting the same technology as our competitors, yet at a more affordable price," he says.
