New leadership for Airtel's DRC and Niger operations

India's Bharti Airtel has appointed key business leaders for its Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Niger operations.

According to a report Djibril Ouattara has been appointed the new managing director for Airtel Niger.

Meanwhile, for its operations in the DRC the telco has appointed Alain Kahasha as chief operating officer (COO) and Ismael Nacoulma as the chief sales officer.

Outtara, the former MD of Atlantique Telecom Togo, is expected to drive the company’s strategic leadership in Niger.

As COO for Airtel DRC Kahasha’s role is to support the overall strategic and operational responsibility of the operation’s activities.

Nacoulma's appointment is to further support the company’s growth agenda in the DRC, the statement reveals.

Until his appointment Nacoulma was the regional head of marketing execution at Airtel DRC.

Speaking about the appointments Airtel Africa chief executive officer, Christian de Faria said, “These appointments underline Airtel’s intention to capture the growth potential in these key markets.

“We believe that these professionals will help support the evolution of our business in the DRC and Niger in line with our overall strategic objectives.”

Bharti Airtel has over 300 million customers across its operations. Airtel has operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa.
