Pay TV provider Multichoice has re-vamped its Digital Terrestrial Transmission (DTT) offering in Namibia to the higher picture quality Digital Video Broadcast (DVB-T2) standard.

Multichoice plans for its Namibian channel bouquet to grow from five to 15 channels on its low-cost GOtv service, as a result of moving the offering over to the DVB-T2 standard, which has a higher frequency band.

The TV bouquet service is available as an inclusive offer of a decoder and a three months subscription fee of $61. Once the three months subscription fee is up, customers pay a monthly fee of $6 for the service

“We have decided to re-launch the service to offer the viewer access to many more channels than what was available on the T1 service and as we are also in other countries such as Kenya and Zambia, it only made sense that the best way to do this is to upgrade the T1 infrastructure to the T2 platform for Namibia,” said Willem Hattingh, general manager, GOtv Africa.
