MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge has welcomed the appointment of Sylvia Elsheikh as chief marketing officer, describing it as a strategic step towards the telco's goal of accelerating digital innovation and improving consumer engagement.

Mulinge lauded the senior marketer's arrival as a strategic benefit for the MTN Uganda leadership team.

“She brings a wealth of experience in telecommunications, brand management, and digital innovation that aligns perfectly with our ambition to lead the delivery of a bold new digital world for our customers,” she said.

Elsheikh, a seasoned marketing executive with over 15 years of experience across Africa and the Middle East, joins MTN Uganda at a pivotal moment as the company expands its data-driven services and digital product offerings.

She previously held senior roles at multinational telecom and FMCG brands, where she led transformative campaigns focused on youth engagement, customer retention, and digital adoption.

Her appointment comes as telecoms giant deepens its focus on customer-centric solutions and enhanced digital experiences.

The company has recently rolled out a series of innovations, including mobile money enhancements, AI-powered self-service platforms, and rural network expansions.

“Together with the incredible team, I look forward to shaping impactful campaigns that resonate with Uganda’s diverse market and elevate customer engagement to the next level,” said Elsheikh.

Mulinge added that the appointment reinforces the telco’s commitment to building a diverse leadership team and driving gender equity in the tech and telecoms sector.

MTN Uganda, part of the MTN Group, remains one of the country’s largest telecom operators, with over 17 million subscribers and a fast-growing fintech arm through MoMo.

Elsheikh’s appointment is effective immediately, and she is expected to play a key role in MTN Uganda’s 2025 strategy, focused on growth, innovation, and delivering superior customer experiences.
