MTN Rwanda has officially launched 5G sites across Kigali, positioning the country for next-level connectivity and innovation under Vision 2050.
Yesterday, at a press conference in the country’s capital, the telecom giant solidified its commitment to innovation and nationwide connectivity.
The rollout follows a successful pilot project launched at Kigali Heights in May.
Since then, MTN Rwanda has rapidly expanded 5G coverage to key areas across the city, including Gasabo, Nyarugenge, Kicukiro, and Kamonyi.
MTN Rwanda CEO, Monzer Ali, said the development represents more than a technological achievement but a pledge to Rwanda’s digital future.
“This milestone goes beyond technology. It reflects our deep and long-term commitment to advancing Rwanda’s digital transformation agenda,” he said.
With the capital city now enjoying access to next-generation mobile speeds and ultra-low latency, MTN Rwanda has set its sights on broader ambitions.
“While today’s launch brings 5G sites across Kigali, our ambition stretches far beyond the capital. We’re committed to expanding this network across the country, ensuring that all Rwandans, regardless of location, can benefit from the transformative power of 5G,” added Monzer.
He highlighted that the 5G network promises to unlock new possibilities for sectors such as health, education, finance, and agriculture which are key pillars of Rwanda’s Vision 2050.
Industry analysts view the move as a timely catalyst for economic growth, placing Rwanda among Africa’s emerging digital leaders.
The MTN Rwanda CEO underlined that the launch is just the beginning of further investment in the East African country’s digital future. “We are proud to lead the way in building a future where innovation, inclusivity, and digital access go hand in hand,” said Monzer.
He stressed that as Rwanda embraces its digital future, MTN’s investment in 5G infrastructure is set to reshape the national connectivity landscape.
