MTN Nigeria unveils broadband router bundles.

MTN Nigeria has launched new broadband packages that combine internet routers with data subscriptions, targeting households, students, remote workers and small businesses seeking more affordable high-speed connectivity.

The packages combine 4G and 5G routers with data plans and are designed to reduce the upfront cost of broadband adoption as demand for reliable internet services continues to grow across Nigeria.

The launch forms part of MTN Nigeria's efforts to expand broadband access through fixed wireless access, which uses mobile networks to provide connectivity in areas where fixed-line infrastructure may be limited.

Under the new packages, customers can purchase a 4G Standard Router bundled with 30GB of data for ₦9,000 (about US$6), while a 4G Premium Router with 60GB of data costs ₦14,500 (about US$10).

MTN Nigeria has also introduced an unlimited broadband package bundled with a 5G router for ₦40,000 (about US$27).

The operator said the bundles are designed to lower the upfront cost of broadband devices while providing data options suited to different customer requirements.

Egerton Idehen, chief broadband officer at MTN Nigeria, said broadband connectivity has become an important service supporting work, education, business operations and communication.

He said the packages reflect MTN Nigeria's efforts to make broadband services more accessible to customers.

Nigeria's telecom operators have increasingly adopted mobile broadband and fixed wireless access solutions to expand connectivity, particularly in areas where traditional fixed broadband infrastructure remains limited.

Fixed wireless access has become an important option for extending broadband services to homes and businesses, particularly where fibre infrastructure is unavailable or costly to deploy.

The approach supports access to digital services such as online learning, remote work and cloud-based applications.
