MTN Group CEO, Ralph Mupita, has attributed the telecoms giant’s continued success to the hard work and commitment of its more than 17,500 employees across Africa.
He went on to describe them as “the backbone of MTN’s vision to drive digital and financial inclusion.”
This follows the company’s latest recognition by Forbes as one of the World’s Best Employers 2025, its fifth consecutive appearance on the prestigious list.
MTN ranked 3rd globally in the Telecommunications Services & Cable Supplier category, while making an impressive leap of 101 places to sit at 166th overall, up from 267th in 2024.
Describing the workers as the backbone of MTN’s vision to drive digital and financial inclusion, Mupita underlined that this achievement is a reflection of the “incredible people” who make the 31-year-old company the number one mobile operator in Africa.
“Our people are the driving force behind the group’s mission to enable digital and financial inclusion across the continent, and it is through their dedication that we continue to lead in delivering digital solutions for Africa’s growth,” he said.
The Group’s CEO and president stressed that, as Africa’s largest mobile operator with over 300 million subscribers across 19 markets, MTN will continue to strengthen its reputation as an employer of choice.
The company’s inclusive workplace culture, rooted in its Live Y’ello values of care, integrity, agility, respect, and inclusion, has enabled it to maintain a strong employer brand in key markets such as South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda.
Paul Norman, MTN Group Chief Human Resources Officer, echoed Mupita’s sentiments when he celebrated the accolade as a confidence vote in MTN’s commitment to empower its award-winning workforce.
“This recognition from Forbes is a powerful testament to the value our employees place in being part of the MTN journey. It affirms the importance of creating a workplace built on inclusivity, support, and personal growth, an environment where everyone can thrive,” he said.
Norman emphasised that MTN’s “Live Inspired” Employee Value Promise ensures team members are supported to grow, innovate, and fuel its vision of a digital Africa in a conducive atmosphere.
“The organisation’s continued investment in employee well-being, diversity, and growth reinforces its belief that empowered people build empowered communities,” he stated.
