MTN Group, Africa's largest mobile network operator, has named seasoned tech executive David Behr as Group chief enterprise business officer to push the company's enterprise solutions across the continent.

The telco is one of the continent's most prominent tech enablers, operating in 19 African nations and serving over 290 million members.

This new leadership appointment comes amid strategic reforms to consolidate the Group’s Converged Solutions and Enterprise Business Unit into a single powerhouse, a shift aimed at boosting operational agility and driving what MTN calls “Commercial Excellence.”

Selorm Adadevoh, MTN Group chief commercial officer described the elevation of Behr as a strategic move to unify the giant telco’s enterprise units and drive next-generation digital solutions for businesses in Africa.

“We are excited to welcome David to this new role as we continue to transform our enterprise business for the future. With his experience and leadership, we are confident that MTN will be better positioned to deliver integrated, next-generation solutions that enable Africa’s progress,” he said.

With over 20 years of leadership experience in telecommunications and technology, Behr’s appointment is more than a reshuffle but a strategic signal.

Adadevoh highlighted that as enterprise demand in Africa surges for digital services such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, and Internet of Things , MTN is aligning itself to lead the charge.

“David Behr, previously CEO of MTN Converged Solutions and a former executive at Liquid Intelligent Technologies, brings deep experience in systems integration and managed services,” he said.

In his new role, the tech veteran will oversee MTN’s entire enterprise strategy, from traditional voice and data offerings to advanced technologies like Unified Communications and digital security infrastructure.

He is expected to play a key role in unlocking new growth areas and delivering tailored solutions to governments, SMEs, and corporates across Africa.

The appointment of the highly skilled Behr comes as MTN intensifies its mission to harness technology for inclusive growth, aiming to become Africa’s preferred partner in enterprise connectivity and digital transformation.
