MTN Ghana has recorded $386.3 million in revenue in the first half of 2012, according to the company’s financial statements.
This growth is a 22% increase compared to 2011. Meanwhile, the firm further recorded that its data revenues have grown 193% in the same period.
The telco says it has also bagged a 5.9% increase in its subscriber numbers, finishing the half-year with more than 10 million users. MTN Ghana makes up 46% of the West African country's mobile market, according to the telecom industry regulator of Ghana, National Communication Authority (NCA)..
However, the company did record a 3% deficit in terms of its interconnectivity balance sheet, as a result of an increase in off-net traffic. A 23.2% increase in operational expenses (OPEX) compared to the same period in 2011 also added to the telco's pressure in this regard.
