Enterprise customers in remote and underserved areas of Uganda will gain access to satellite broadband through an expanded partnership between MTN Uganda and Starlink.
The collaboration adds Starlink’s satellite capability to MTN Uganda’s enterprise portfolio, providing critical connectivity to sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, humanitarian response, and energy.
Satellite connectivity adds a vital capability to terrestrial networks, helping businesses and institutions operating beyond conventional infrastructure, said Sylvia Mulinge, CEO of MTN Uganda.
"This partnership strengthens our ability to support enterprise customers in remote and underserved areas with reliable satellite-enabled connectivity," said Mulinge. "It adds an important capability to our existing network and enterprise solutions, helping us serve businesses, institutions and communities that need dependable connectivity beyond the reach of conventional infrastructure."
The rollout forms part of MTN Group’s strategy to integrate low-Earth-orbit (LEO)satellite networks as a complementary layer to fibre and mobile infrastructure across selected African markets.
Starlink, operated by SpaceX, relies on a constellation of over 11,000 LEO satellites to deliver high-speed, low-latency broadband.
The Uganda Communications Commission officially granted Starlink an operational licence in May 2026.
