In an effort to strengthen privacy protection and national trust in ICT services, Mozambique's National Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (INTIC) has established a platform for reporting personal data breaches in the digital space.

The digital platform was introduced on the sidelines of a recent webinar titled "Digital Literacy in Mozambique: Challenges and Opportunities," which brought together stakeholders from public institutions, the private sector, and civil society.

According to the regulator, the pilot of the platform is part of the consolidation of personal data protection regime in the country, recognising that the existence of effective reporting mechanisms is a central element for safeguarding the rights of data subjects and for the accountability of personal data processing agents.

Additionally, the initiative is a fundamental instrument to ensure the effective exercise of citizens' rights, allowing the submission of complaints in a simple, safe, and accessible way.

This action contributes to the strengthening of institutional transparency, to the clarification of internal procedures and to the strengthening of the confidence of citizens, public and private institutions and other actors in the national system for the protection of personal data, said the organisation.

“At the same time, it reaffirms the commitment of the Mozambican State to the protection of privacy, good governance and the ethical and responsible use of the digital space,” said INTIC.
