MoMo Payment Service Bank (PSB), MTN Nigeria's fintech subsidiary, has struck an agreement to work together with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) to broaden access to digital financial services for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The deal was signed on Wednesday at the MoMo headquarters in Lagos, where both parties discussed collaboration on payments, transaction, and business management solutions for SMEDAN-registered enterprises.

Usoro Usoro, MoMo PSB's executive director for strategy and innovation, stated that the collaboration underlines MoMo's commitment to providing SMEs with realistic digital solutions that increase productivity and open up fresh avenues for growth.

The arrangement grants eligible SMEs access to MoMo PSB's digital platforms, which include mobile applications, point-of-sale devices, USSD channels, and partner portals.

These solutions are intended to enable businesses to accept payments via numerous channels, pay employee salaries, manage bills, and control multiple outlets, all from a single system.

The partnership will assist SMEs formalise and decrease operational challenges, especially for small enterprises that are still outside the regular banking system.

According to MoMo PSB, the continued expansion of its agent and merchant network remains central to its financial inclusion strategy, particularly in underserved and unbanked communities.

The director-general and CEO of SMEDAN, Charles Odii, said: “This partnership is about removing friction and making sure financial support reaches small businesses in a way that is simple, transparent, and built for real impact.”

He noted that while the partnership targets registered SMEs, the solutions will also be available to small businesses across the country.

Both organisations said the partnership reflects broader national efforts to deepen financial inclusion and support sustainable growth among small enterprises.
