Pan African broadband provider Liquid Telecom plans to launch a satellite service targeting business owners across the continent.

Speaking to ITWeb Africa, Ben Roberts who is the acting Kenyan chief executive officer and chief technology officer at Liquid, said that the company’s very small aperture terminal (VSAT) offering is a “tweak” on a previous service.

“It’s a cost effective dish that you will have on your home or business,” Roberts said.

He added that the company is set to cover southern and eastern Africa with the new product.

Last year in November, Liquid Telecom partnered with Newtec Company, which offered thousands of VSAT terminals for Liquid Telecom.

“By offering Liquid Telecom our cost effective VSAT terminals as part of our scalable network solution, attractive IP-based services will be deployed complementary to their existing terrestrial infrastructure. We are pleased to be part of their network expansion to deliver new services to their clients in Africa,” Newtec’s chief executive officer, Serge Van Herck, said.
