Leah Nakazwe Kooma has been appointed as the CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia, effective 1 April 2026.
The appointment reflects a commitment to expanding leadership in digital infrastructure across the Southern African nation and beyond, says Liquid Intelligent Technologies (Liquid), a business of Cassava Technologies.
Kooma succeeds the acting leadership of Mwendamo Mazaba, who oversaw the business during its recent rollout of SME-focused digital portals and public Wi-Fi projects.
With over two decades of experience across the telecommunications, financial services, and media sectors, Kooma’s leadership is pivotal at this stage for the Zambia business, says Wellington Makamure, Sub-Saharan CEO for Cassava Technologies.
Her proven ability to deliver results will drive the next phase of growth, adds Makamure.
Kooma began her career at Barclays Bank before joining Celtel, where she worked across multiple African markets. In 2016, she joined the founding team of Vodafone Zambia as chief sales and distribution officer, playing a key role in launching the country’s first 4G Long-Term Evolution network.
In 2017, she joined MultiChoice Zambia as the GOtv commercial general manager and was later appointed chief customer officer before becoming managing director.
I have watched from the terraces as the business has evolved over the years, and I believe that, together with my team, we can take it to the next level, says Kooma.
Kooma holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Development Studies from the University of Zambia and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Wales.
She currently serves on several boards, including as board chair for the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, and is a member of the Institute of Directors and Business Professional Women International.
The appointment comes as Liquid intensifies its efforts to bridge Zambia's digital divide through enhanced home network connectivity and the provision of managed services for the public and private sectors.
