Lesotho has achieved a significant milestone in broadening cyber security capabilities and building digital infrastructure by forming collaboration with CTM360, a global digital risk mitigation firm.
The Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bahrain-based company, resulting in a collaborative effort to strengthen the Southern African country's defence against increasing cyber threats.
This partnership provides Lesotho with CTM360's real-time threat insight into cyber risks to critical infrastructure.
CTM360's cyber security stack is expected to provide for proactive detection, continuous monitoring, and mitigation of digital threats.
The LCA is the national regulator of telecommunications, radio, and postal services.
"This partnership signifies more than just a cooperation," said Mirza Asrar Baig, CEO of CTM360. "It is a joint commitment to safeguard Lesotho's critical infrastructure (including) mobile network operators, Internet Service Providers and other essential communication sectors."
Baig signed the MoU with his LCA counterpart, Nizam Goolam, late Wednesday.
The MoU also makes external cyber security assessments easier for LCA and its licensees, helping to create a more robust digital ecosystem.
Goolam said the alliance was timely as Lesotho navigated the difficulties of a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
"By joining forces with CTM360, we are taking a proactive step to strengthen the communication sector's cyber security resilience and ensure the protection of key systems," he added.
