Kenya’s Equatorial Commercial Bank (ECB) has launched its GoMobile application that allows customers to access banking services via their mobile phones.

“The GoMobile application will offer ECB’s customers security, easy access and more control of finances that will later on help the bank assess customers while making monetary transaction,” said ECB managing director, Sammy Itemere.

The GoMobile application is limited to smartphones.

The bank said it can be downloaded on Android and iOS devices as well as BlackBerry smartphones and as web-based version on WAP-enabled phones.

The *286# USSD code will serve as the platform that will provide all smartphones with connections via the Safaricom network access to the banking services

Officials said subscribers would enjoy a variety of services including access to their mini and full financial statements, loan requests, ATM and branch locator for smartphones, prepaid applications and inter-account
transfers.

ECB joins banking institutions such as the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), which most recently, collaborated with Safaricom to offer the KCB mobi-bank application.
