Kenya and California, in the US, are exploring opportunities for collaboration in technology.

Kenyan President William Ruto welcomed a group of California state secretaries and private sector representatives led by Toks Omishakin, the state secretary of transportation. Carla Benini, the US Embassy Charge d'Affaires, was also in attendance.

In his speech, Ruto stated that California's 'leadership in technology' and climate innovation, along with Kenya's Silicon Savannah and East Africa's vibrant, young, and digitally competent workforce, presents unparalleled prospects for partnership.

President Ruto said": “Kenya leads in climate action, with a 93% renewable energy grid, targeting 100% by 2030 and 100GW by 2040.

“Together, we are advancing clean energy systems, smart agriculture, research, Artificial Intelligence, trade, and clean transportation, including the upcoming Africa Clean Transportation Centre of Excellence in Nairobi."
