Bloomberg, a global business and financial information organisation, has acknowledged iiDENTIFii, an African biometric identity authentication provider, for its achievements in digital identification across the continent and beyond.
The start-up was selected one of Blomberg's 25 African Startups to Watch in 2025 in its inaugural edition.
According to iiDENTIFii, Bloomberg assessed over 2,000 companies on the continent and chose the top 25 that have produced new solutions, many of which are also displaying significant socioeconomic effect.
Bloomberg said the recognition acknowledges organisations that are solutions-oriented and focused on addressing local challenges such as health care, food storage, and financial services.
iiDENTIFii is the only biometric identity verification and authentication company on the list and it said over 60 percent of the largest Tier 1 banks in South Africa trust it to keep their customers, data and assets safe.
“With many African countries lacking a formal identification measure, businesses struggle with fraud, identity verification and compliance. iiDENTIFii says it’s able to cut down on fraud and make it easier for people to verify their identity through taking simple selfies on a mobile phone,” noted Bloomberg.
