Chinese telecommunications equipment firm Huawei has inked a deal to provide Egyptian mobile operator Etisalat Misr with its BTS3900 radio base station technology.

BTS3900 features lower power consumption technology. The two companies in a statement also say the technology is more adept at adapting to LTE demands.

The value of the deal, though, has not been revealed.

Haitham AbdulRazzak, chief technical officer, Etisalat Misr, says: "Etisalat Misr keeps its commitment in maintaining technology and broadband leadership and will continue investing in solutions and products that will enhance service experience for consumers and enterprises."

According to Egypt’s ministry of communications and information technology earlier this year, Etisalat has approximately 23.1 million users on its network.
