
Chinese information and communications technology (ICT) provider Huawei has donated 10 million Ugandan shillings ($3752.40) to help build a classroom block.
Mpungwe Secondary school in Uganda is to receive the donation.
“Huawei Technologies has always been socially responsible in Uganda; I would like to thank them for investing in education which is a foundation for integrity and social economic development,” said Uganda’s state minister for ICT Nyombi Thembo in an announcement.
Meanwhile, Yiga Adel, the assurance and managed services director for Huawei Uganda encouraged parents in the community to contribute to this project actively by making sure it successfully comes to completion.
“Giving back to communities where we operate is our corporate social responsibility obligation, it is the reason we have donated UGX 10,000,000 to aide in the construction of a classroom block with the aim of creating opportunities through education,” Adel said in a statement.
