Information technologies, services and solutions firm Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has unveiled its cloud solutions for the African market at an event in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Officials at HDS say the new offerings are planned to allow enterprises to adopt cloud computing more readily, enable their mobile workforce more ‘securely and reliably’ and provide for a ‘better’ IT experience to their end users.

Included in the new cloud offering is HDS’ first integrated file sync and share solution - the Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere. The solution is built, sold and supported for the enterprise entirely by a single vendor.

It brings what HDS says is secure mobility to the enterprise and allows users to access data and collaborate on any device, from any location and share files.

“Though consumer file sync and share options have been available for some time, options for the enterprise are still emerging,” said Shaun Barendsen, country manager at HDS South Africa .

Barendsen added, “Our new HCP Anywhere application and platform should be particularly appealing to security-conscious end users who need to lock down access to business data and leverage additional cloud capabilities and support to satisfy end user requirements for data access across multiple devices.”

HDS also plans to make its new cloud solutions available in other African regions like West and East Africa where it also has operations.
