High quality floor marking

Floor marking is a valuable tool to provide employees.

Johannesburg, 22 Feb 2016

Floor marking is a critical safety element in industrial buildings such as factories, and is important in demarcating areas in warehouses and so on. Historically, floor marking was done using paint, but this was a laborious process. These days, following advances in floor marking tape technology, painting is almost obsolete, and floor marking tapes allow for higher quality floor marking without interfering with plant or warehouse operations.

Frikkie Koegelenberg, CCO of Roan Safety Products, explains that floor marking is a valuable tool to provide employees – particularly those in the manufacturing or other industrial sectors – with information, and is not just a way to demarcate areas. "Floor marking might include striping to improve the visibility of hazardous areas, it may use words or symbols to indicate danger areas, and it provides a way to keep a big facility organised and productive," he says.

Koegelenberg adds that Brady's range of floor marking products are among the best in the world, and have been used by South African businesses to great effect. "Many local companies have used the Brady range to designate safety areas and warnings, as well as to identify specific areas such as storage and machine areas. In fact, we are proud to have been able to assist some of these companies with the installation of their floor marking, as we offer an installation service for customers who require it, in addition to supplying the products."

The floor marking solution includes anti-skid tape with a high degree of friction to help prevent slipping and falling on wet or slippery floors. Anti-slip Tape is perfect for areas that may pose a possible hazard. For darker environments, the photo luminescent area marking products provide safe Low Location Lighting (LLL) pathway marking. This is especially necessary in the event of a power outage or other emergency situation, making it easy to see danger zones, even in complete darkness.

"The warning or marking tapes and the Toughstripe product ensure that the markings of routes are flexible and durable, as they are constantly adapted to changing demands in these kinds of environments," Koegelenberg concludes.
