Ghana’s government from this month plans to effect salary payments only to those employees who have registered their biometric data.

Ghana’s minister of finance and economic planning, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, has said a directive was sent to various government ministries in Ghana, including agencies, to ensure that they process salaries based on the data captured.

He urged all staff who could not participate in the biometric registration exercise to go to the nearest Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) or finance ministry to register as soon as possible to avoid inconveniences.

"A copy of the validated biometric data which excludes the list of staff paid using IGFs should be submitted to the Ministry and the Audit service to ensure smooth implementation of the policy," Duffour said.
