Nigeria’s National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has signed on German headquartered HJP Consulting to deliver test services and consulting for the country’s electronic identity card (eID card) project.
The Nigerian National Identity Management Commission plans to introduce more than 100 million cards to Nigeria’s 167 million citizens.
The eID cards are also expected to have identity functions as well as include a MasterCard prepaid functionality.
HJP Consulting, meanwhile, is to provide test services for the multi-application eID card.
The services are set to include the development of customised test specifications, the evaluation and implementation of test specifications as well as performing conformity and acceptance tests and generating test reports.
HJP technical director Holger Funke said, “We are proud that our wide range of test expertise is required in this important eID project.”
In addition, HJP is set to deliver consultancy services for the development of specification documents, which are to include documents such as system architecture and IT security concepts as well as a business case for eServices.
HJP Consulting specialises in the planning, procurement, testing and approval of large-scale smart card-based IT systems for eID or e-health applications.
HJP also has its own open-source test tool platform, GlobalTesterTM, which will be used for the application testing.
GlobalTesterTM is a sophisticated system that tests the chip application layer of smart cards and has been used by government and industry customers worldwide.
