evoila Africa has appointed Keevan Chun as cloud solutions sales specialist to expand its VMware private cloud business across the continent, as organisations reassess infrastructure costs and data sovereignty requirements.

Chun will work with enterprise customers, partners and the broader market to support private cloud adoption, the company said.

The appointment forms part of an investment in the business following German-based IT solutions firm evoila’s acquisition of Routed, which established the local cloud provider as its primary African subsidiary.

The transition gives regional customers access to evoila’s international consulting framework while retaining local data operations, as previously reported by ITWeb.

The move comes as Broadcom’s Private Cloud Outlook 2026 found that 83% of 1,800 senior IT leaders surveyed globally were considering moving workloads from public to private cloud, while half had already moved some.

Cost has also overtaken security as the leading concern about public cloud among respondents, reinforcing the commercial case for private cloud infrastructure.

Organisations across Africa are reviewing their cloud strategies amid higher-than-expected public cloud costs and data sovereignty requirements that influence where information can be stored, according to evoila Africa.

The shift also follows Broadcom’s restructuring of VMware’s global partner ecosystem, which reduced the number of authorised partners from about 6,000 to around 100. As one of the remaining partners, evoila is positioned to provide managed private cloud solutions to enterprises affected by the changes.

In his new role, Chun will help customers and partners assess private cloud as an alternative to public cloud and on-premises infrastructure, or as part of a hybrid approach.

The company said its credentials as a sovereign cloud provider enable it to sell VMware licensing and services across Africa, including solutions based on VMware Cloud Foundation architectures.

Chun brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the position, including 12 years at Microsoft, where he most recently worked as a cloud solutions sales specialist for Azure. He has also held positions at Oracle and Avaya.

“I spent a long time working in the public cloud, and a lot of the conversations I had with customers came back to cost and to where their data was being stored,” Chun said. “Private cloud has come a long way, and for many workloads it now gives customers what they need at a cost they can plan for. I want to help customers look at it properly as an option.”

Andrew Cruise, managing director of evoila Africa, said the appointment forms part of a broader investment in the business.

“Keevan knows this market well. He’s worked with customers on cloud and infrastructure decisions for more than 20 years, and our customers and partners will benefit from that experience,” Cruise said.
