Spiro is eager to push forward sustainable urban mobility.

Spiro, one of Africa's electric car firms, has expanded its footprint on the continent, launching operations in Tanzania and Cameroon as part of its strategy to develop mobility solutions in emerging markets.

The company said hundreds of its eco-friendly electric two-wheelers will be deployed in new markets to meet urban transportation challenges and cut carbon emissions.

In Tanzania, Spiro officials announced plans to construct or partner in assembly facilities to promote job opportunities, minimise reliance on imports, and cut the overall cost of ownership for local riders and entrepreneurs.

The company stated that it has already deployed over ten battery switching stations in Tanzania and hopes to expand the network across the country.

Spiro's CEO, Kaushik Burman, explained that they will also introduce assets financed by banks and other financers and organised training programs to help youth and small-scale entrepreneurs enter the e-mobility market.

“Our commitment is to provide accessible, eco-friendly transportation that transforms urban mobility and supports economic growth across the continent,” Burman said.

In Cameroon, where Spiro bikes will be available next month, the EV business has committed to promote the country's energy transformation and improve urban mobility.

Rahul Gaur, managing director of Spiro West Africa and Cameroon, stated that they will reduce urban pollution, offer new job opportunities for young people, and support the government's long-term economic agenda.

He went on to say they want to make Cameroon a regional model for green mobility.

Burman added: “The government [of Cameroon] should prioritise electric mobility in national policy—through tax incentives, infrastructure support, and public-private partnerships.”
