Eutelsat Group is broadening its partnership with InterSAT Communication Services, a UAE-based satellite communications service provider, to enhance fixed data services in Central and Eastern Africa.
According to Eutelsat, the renewed multi-year agreement would enable InterSAT provide fixed data services to some of the region's most rural and underserved areas using Ku-band capacity on the satellite EUTELSAT 7C for African markets.
The new agreement also covers the renewal of capacity on satellite EUTELSAT 70B.
Furthermore, the service providers are in discussions about adding Eutelsat's OneWeb services to improve network performance in East Africa.
Commenting on the partnership, Philippe Baudrier, Eutelsat OneWeb’s VP for Connectivity, Africa said: “This partnership highlights the ongoing relevance of our powerful geostationary in-orbit assets to deliver a cost-effective and reliable connectivity service to the remotest areas. Furthermore, we are excited to discuss the possibility of adding Low-Earth Orbit Satellite capacity to further optimise the service offering.”
Hanif Kassam, CEO of InterSAT, commented that the partnership aims to expand reach across Africa through stable connectivity.
Kassam elaborates: “With their optimal orbital locations over Africa, EUTELSAT E7C and E70B provide InterSAT with wide coverage and efficiency across the Horizon.
"Additionally, our state-of-the-art teleport investments leveraged in this solution provide growth capabilities for our diverse customers in the region.
"We look forward to adding One Web to our service portfolio whereby our customers across the African continent can benefit from low-latency and reliable connectivity.”
