Africa’s largest airline, Ethiopian Airlines, has taken flight into the digital future of aviation retail by adopting Sabre’s AI-powered retailing platform.
Teaming up with a next-generation platform designed to revolutionize how airlines create, price, and distribute offers using artificial intelligence and real-time data, Ethiopia’s national carrier has set a digital pace to modernise flight retailing.
Ethiopian Airlines, often hailed as Africa’s aviation powerhouse, flies to more than 135 international destinations across five continents, including over 60 within Africa, operating more than 130 flights daily through its hub at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.
This extensive network has made it a critical link between Africa and the world.
Roshan Mendis, Chief Commercial Officer at Sabre Corporation said their technology positions the flying giant of Africa to compete at the highest global level through dynamic pricing, personalised offers and modern distribution.
“With SabreMosaic, Ethiopian Airlines will introduce new products and fare bundles more rapidly, apply AI-driven dynamic pricing for greater revenue precision, and deliver tailored offers to travelers instantly. Our technology gives it the flexibility to test innovative retailing approaches, adapt swiftly to market developments, and expand the range of choices available to customers,” he said.
Mesfin Tasew, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO concurred that the move supports the Skytrax-award-winning airline’s Vision 2035 strategy, which aims to position the carrier among the world’s top 20 airlines by passenger traffic.
“Our Vision 2035 strategy is about scale, speed and service. To achieve it, we must modernise how we retail. SabreMosaic provides the capabilities to move faster, price smarter and give our passengers more choice. Our travelers will benefit from fares that better reflect market conditions, more personalized offers and a smoother shopping and booking experience,” he said.
Mendis stressed that Ethiopian’s adoption of SabreMosaic marks a new chapter in its 20-year partnership with the software and technology company powering the global travel industry
“By integrating modern distribution capabilities, Ethiopian strengthens its engagement across the global travel ecosystem, reaching new markets and providing greater choice and transparency. This evolution supports the airline's transition to Offer and Order retailing and aims to help ensure its distribution model is ready to scale in line with its bold vision for the future,” he said.
