Eswatini sets timeframe for Taiwan tech park

The President of the Republic of Taiwan, Lai Ching-te, paid a visit to the Eswatini Royal Science and Technology Park in Nokwane, which is set to become the Taiwan Industrial and Innovation Park.

During a presentation held after the site visit, minister of commerce, industry and trade Manqoba Khumalo highlighted the significant progress made in establishing the project, which he said is set to transform Eswatini’s economic landscape.

The Eswatini government said Taiwan Industrial and Innovation Park is poised to accelerate industrialisation, drive economic diversification, and create employment opportunities.

“Construction is anticipated to begin soon, with completion projected within 18 months,” said the government.

Minister Khumalo, added: “This partnership remains a cornerstone of our development agenda, and we look forward to continued collaboration and shared prosperity."

The minister also welcomed the pledge by Texray Group, whose planned investment in the Park marks a major milestone in attracting international investors, according to the government.

President Ching-te commented on X about his visit, saying: “I was briefed on the Taiwan Industrial Innovation Park and strategic oil reserve facility— important flagship projects in Eswatini. Our joint efforts will contribute to energy security and industrial capabilities, paving the way for further cooperation and shared prosperity.”
