Econet Wireless has announced that it has commenced discussions with the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) about publishing a circular to shareholders on the company's intended voluntary delisting from the exchange.

In a further cautionary announcement released late Tuesday, the telco said discussions were also on regarding the potential listing of Econet Infrastructure Company, a company that holds Econet's real estate, telecommunications tower, and renewable energy assets on the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX).

Tatenda Ngowe, Group company secretary, confirmed the engagements, adding upon conclusion of the regulatory engagements, the company would publish a circular to shareholders setting out the full details of the proposed delisting of Econet and the simultaneous listing of Econet InfraCo.

“Accordingly, shareholders are advised to continue exercising caution when dealing in the company’s securities until a circular is published,” Ngowe stated.

This is further to the cautionary announcements dated December 3 and 15 in 2025, where Econet announced the planned delisting from ZSE.

It argued its share price on the local stock exchange was undervalued, which is impacting on its ability to raise funds to invest in operations.

The VFEX's trading currency of the United States dollar allows the bourse to shield investors from exchange control risk. The exchange started operations in 2020.

Econet’s share price closed at 674 ZWG cents ($1,86) on Tuesday at the ZSE.

The mobile operator has over 16 million subscribers, with a market share of over 70 percent.

Strive Masiyiwa founded Econet Wireless Zimbabwe in 1993, and he remains the majority shareholder through his company, Econet Wireless Global.
