Cannon Technologies is pleased to unveil a range of configurable and expandable ISO-compliant self-contained data centres - available in 6, 12 and 13.5 metre versions - that are fully turnkey ready. The units are available to Cannon’s global client base immediately.
According to Mark Awdas, engineering manager with the global leader in data centre solutions, the containerised modular data centres are shipped mission-ready - available for clients to, quite literally, switch on and go.
"We've been piloting the ISO shipping container units with a number of our key clients, and feedback has been extremely positive, especially since the robust units include our CP-M Series of advanced three-phase modular power protection as an integrated feature," he said.
"This advanced version of our UPS module - which is standard to the ISO containers - helps to reduce SPOF (single point of failure) and MTIR (mean time to repair) ratios for clients, as well as increasing site power availability wherever the ISO units are located," he added.
A key feature of the UPS function is support for plug-and-play battery facilities, allowing the power feed to continue to protected equipment while batteries are being replaced.
On top of this the ISO units support up to 95% power efficiency – ranging up to 98% in ECO mode - with an integrated power capacity as high as 800kVA using four 200 kVA cabinets in parallel.
This modular power flexibility allows clients to scale their power and runtime options as demand grows - or as and when higher levels of availability are required.
And, Awdas explained, thanks to the use of 1.4 metre (5 modules) and 2 metre (10 modules) 19-inch standard cabinets, clients can enjoy access to standard-sized rack data centre-style cabinets with a capacity of 10/15/20kVA in just three units of space.
The composition of the racks can be built completely to client specifications, as well as to a pre-configured design that is available to be carefully drop-shipped to the client’s site in a relatively short timescale.
"We are very proud of the green nature of our modular data centres - upon which the new ISO container options are built. In July of this year, Cannon Technologies won the prestigious Team of the Year Award at the Green IT Awards 2013 in London," Awdas said.
"That accolade was awarded for Cannon's ground-breaking work on the specification and installation of the T4 modular data centre at the headquarters of a client in Johannesburg a location that is exposed to severe weather conditions and seismic activity," he concluded.
The 36 cabinet 400 kVA project was delivered and assembled, concludes Awdas, in a time scale of just three weeks, and proved beyond any doubt, the inherent flexibility and green nature of Cannon's modular approach to data centres, which can clearly be seen in the new ISO container units.
