Camtel, a state-owned telco, has deployed 127 newly trained young techies as part of the inaugural cohort of its Professional Integration Programme for Young Graduates, in an effort to strengthen operational efficiency across the country.
The recruits, dubbed "Team Excellence," were commissioned on 25 November and will begin field operations this week, after two weeks of intensive technical and customer-service training.
The recruits were chosen from a pool of 270 applicants from schools that offer training in telecoms, computer networks, computer maintenance, industrial computing, computer engineering, electrical engineering, networks systems, and security.
They will serve as frontline responders in Camtel's efforts to significantly reduce service downtime and improve user experience across its network.
According to the telco, the teams are anticipated to handle incidents in under 24 hours and complete the Fibre-To-The-Home installations in three days. They have also been tasked with increasing customer satisfaction to at least 95%.
Camtel executives said the new recruits have received training in not just technical troubleshooting but also communication, professionalism, and customer-service basics to ensure seamless, respectful, and solution-oriented encounters.
“The Professional Integration Program is an initiative led by CAMTEL, designed to provide recent graduates with their first professional experience in various areas of operations in our company,” Camtel general manager Judith Yah Sunday said.
