Cameroon seeks to break down institutional silos in order to enable faster and more coordinated responses to cyber-attacks.

Cameroon's National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC) recently hosted a strategic capacity-building workshop to enhance the country's cyber security resilience as cyber threats grow in scale and sophistication.

The training, hosted in collaboration with the global cyber security consortium FIRST (Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams), drew IT specialists from both the public and private sectors.

The program aimed to improve participants' technical and operational abilities to identify, block, and respond to complex cyber-attacks, many of which are now powered by artificial intelligence.

The IT professionals explored ways to strengthen cooperation between public and private sectors, improve the flow of information, and enhance the speed, coordination, and effectiveness of prevention, detection, and mitigation strategies.

Ebot Ebot Enaw, director general of ANTIC, stated that the training project was critical, particularly at a time when cyber-attacks are growing and becoming complicated.

“Cyber-crime is no longer a localised challenge. It has evolved into a global threat with national and transnational criminal and terrorist groups exploiting digital technologies to target and disrupt critical infrastructure, thereby undermining state security and eroding public trust,” Enaw said
